Also, be on track with PTE exam dates and centers to have optimum preparation.

You might get bar graphs, line graphs, pie charts, diagrams, photographs, or maps to describe. Once an image appears on the screen, you are allocated 25 seconds to study it. Then, after 25 seconds, the microphone opens for 40 seconds.

How to answer Describe Image in PTE?

You can create a ready-made template to use while giving answers in the PTE Speaking test. If you incorporate elements from the image into the template, it would be an easy and reliable way to score high.

Describe Image PTE Template
The given image shows several trends and features. Looking closely at the image, I can deduce that the image contains different shapes, colors, texts, and numbers. Basically, a thorough analysis of the picture reveals a lot of detail.

The image displays various things such as [word 1], [word 2], and [word 3].

Similarly, [word 4], [word 5], and [word 6] can be observed in the image.

I can notice [word 7], [word 8], and [word 9].

However, the illustration also highlights [word 10], [word 11], and [word 12].

In conclusion, the picture provides important information.

In the Describe Image format above, the parts such as [word1] and [word2] have to be replaced with words or numbers written on the image.

Memorize this script and say it as it is in the exam. Practice saying this within the 40 seconds time limit.

How is PTE Describe Image marked?

Pearson’s Ordinate technology is at play in scoring the speaking portion of the PTE test. Factors such as speed and rhythm of speech, alongside voice quality, intonation, word choice, and pronunciation are taken into account by the computer.

Basically, there are three major criteria of judgement in Describe Image questions. They are Content, Pronunciation, and Oral Fluency.

Content is scored on a scale of 0 to 5. An answer which covers all the relevant parts of the image and their relationships and implications gets 5. The more elements from the image you fail to describe, the lower your score will be. Incorporating 12 items from the image into the template provided here would be sufficient to get the full score in the category of Content.

Pronunciation and Oral Fluency each are assigned a score from 0 to 5, with 5 being native-like use of the language and 0 being unrecognizable or inarticulate English. Practice saying the above format in a loud and clear manner without pauses or hesitations.

You can repeat the same Describe Image format for all the questions you get in the test.

Thanks Gaurav. Reading somewhere there was an update to PTE algorithm, and this has led to low scores using templates. So was checking to see whether students are getting 79+ scores still using this template?
